Compassionate solutions for all kinds of people.
Moosilauke Visions is a non-profit collaborative of small, independent human-services programs known for their quality. For more than forty years, we have championed excellence and innovation in education, wellness, and behavioral health.
Moosilauke* Visions partners with education, mental health, and wellness programs to provide compassionate solutions for people from all walks of life. Since our humble beginnings as an alternative boarding school for boys with special needs, our nonprofit has partnered with dozens of small, high-quality programs to improve thousands of lives throughout the northeast and beyond.
* Our organization was founded in view of the magnificent Mount Moosilauke. New Hampshirites, not to mention Moosilauke Visions employees, are evenly divided on the pronunciation of this storied Abenaki name. So whether you say "moos-uh-lock" or "moos-uh-lockie," you're right!
Our Projects
Our mission is to support the independence of small, high-quality programs at a time when large profit-driven conglomerates and predatory investors dominate the behavioral and mental-health landscape.
Our current partnerships include publicly funded programs for high-needs adolescents and adults, a nature-based wellness and professional-development retreat, and several small independent treatment centers. We work with these programs to support their stability, quality, and sustainability.
Following is a small sampling of projects that represents the breadth of our offerings.
-

Life Connections
Life Connections is a publicly funded division of Moosilauke Visions that provides community-based residential, day, and behavioral health services to people of all ages. We have locations on the eastern seaboard from Florida to Maine and provide services to a wide range of clients at no charge to them.
-

Mountain Valley Treatment Center
Mountain Valley Treatment Center is a private-pay anxiety treatment program located in Plainfield, New Hampshire that has been featured in The New York Times Magazine, PBS, People Magazine and other media outlets for its excellent work helping adolescents and young adults conquer disabling anxiety and related disorders.
-

The Innstead
The Innstead is a luxury wellness retreat and professional-development center. Located on 2000 acres of sustainably managed forest, The Innstead features backcountry ski glades, hiking and mountain biking trails, a ropes course and climbing wall, and stunning views of Mount Moosilauke.

Our Team
“My job and the job of the board and our intentionally small executive team is to help program leaders solve problems and manage risk, but mostly to encourage, coach, and then get out of the way.”
—Jay Wolter, President & Founder
Our continued success derives, in large part, from keeping individual programs small and supporting the talented leaders who run them. The result is an organization that functions less like a corporation than a well-resourced collaborative of quality-driven programs united by a shared mission to help people live their best lives.
