Carl Lovejoy

Involved in independent school education for more than three decades, Carl is a veteran educator, administrator, and fundraiser. He co-founded Mountain Valley Treatment Center in 2011, coming from the Oliverian School, an alternative boarding school for students who thrive in non-traditional academic environments, where he served as Director of External Affairs and as a member of the School’s Board of Trustees. 

Prior to Oliverian, Carl, a graduate of St. Paul’s School and Colby College, worked as a teacher, coach, dormitory parent and administrator at Kimball Union Academy, Cardigan Mountain School, Tabor Academy and St. Paul’s School.

Over the course of his career, he has been recognized for his work by such organizations as the Educational Testing Service, The Boys’ Club of New York, the National Association of Therapeutic Schools and Programs and the Junior Boarding Schools Association, of which he is a co-founder. He was named to the Board of the IECA Foundation in 2014 and is a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals and the Association of Independent School Admission Professionals. He is a graduate of The Stanley H. King Counseling Institute.

Carl lives in Enfield, NH with his wife, Cari, a retired member of Mountain Valley’s leadership team. The Lovejoys have three sons, Ben, Matt, and Nick, and seven grandchildren.
