The Innstead Mountain Getaway in Pike, New Hampshire sits atop 2,000 pristine acres at the western boundary – the quiet, peaceful side – of the White Mountain National Forest. They offer luxurious all-season cabins, breathtaking mountain views, an extensive trail network for hiking, running, mountain biking, and backcountry skiing, and unique indoor and outdoor spaces for our guests to enjoy.

The land is frequented by deer, moose, bears, wild turkeys – and a few lucky humans – and has been carefully stewarded for generations to preserve its raw, natural beauty while fostering the fruitful coexistence of human and wildlife visitors. Whether you’re looking for a meditative stroll, a rigorous backcountry expedition, or fresh apples to add to your dinner salad, you’ll find everything you need here on-site.

The property was purchased from a local family of dairy farmers by John and Joan Wolter in 1976 for use as an idyllic space in which to carry out their pioneering experiential education vision. In collaboration with the Wolter family, The Innstead builds upon this legacy today by providing an authentic experience for guests who seek the comforts of an inn with a genuine connection to this rustic natural landscape.

A wide variety of world-class hiking, skiing, and mountaineering opportunities are within short reach of our property. The Appalachian Trail lies only five miles down the road and other legendary regions such as the Pemigewasset Wilderness, the Benton Range, and the Presidential Range are but a stone’s throw away. Skiers will find the Dartmouth Skiway, Tenney Mountain, Loon Mountain, and Cannon Mountain all within a 30-mile drive.

Your hosts (native New Englanders Siobhan and Bill Kearney) moved to Pike in 2013. Since that time, they’ve devoted much of their life together to rearing and teaching children, growing roots in the Upper Valley, quietly aspiring to outdo one another in the kitchen, and exploring this land that they now call home. Bill and Siobhan are passionate adventurers, travelers, foodies, and all-around life enthusiasts who delight in showing people a good time. They live on-site with their three daughters – and look forward to welcoming you to The Innstead Mountain Getaway!
