Director of Risk Management

Laura Eve-Cowles, M.Ed, Ed.D.

Laura Eve-Cowles, Ed.D., is an accomplished professional with a wealth of experience, in grant writing, grants management, risk management, compliance, policy development, and accreditation management. As a risk management professional, Laura plays a pivotal role in ensuring our partners’ adherence to regulatory standards, mitigating risks, and maintaining a culture of excellence.

Prior to joining Moosilauke Visions, Laura served as Manager of Major Grant Opportunities at the University of Massachusetts Donahue Institute, the economic outreach and development unit of the University of Massachusetts’ President’s Office.

Laura is an expert in helping human service programs develop compliance, risk management, and quality measures. She has led multiple programs through the Council of Accreditation (COA) process and deeply understands the changes an organization needs to make in order to be successful. Laura has developed and delivered training for staff at all levels, fostering a strong compliance culture across the organizations in a range of areas including: HIPAA, Worker’s Compensation and OSHA Reporting, Performance Quality Improvement, Risk Management, Cybersecurity Awareness, Emergency Preparedness Planning, Active Intruder Prevention and Response, and Fleet Management. 

Outside of her professional commitments, Laura is actively engaged in environmental activities in western Massachusetts. She serves as Secretary of the Board of Directors for the Massachusetts Woodlands Institute, and oversees community outreach activities for her family Tree Farm, which was awarded American Tree Farm System (ATFS) National Outstanding Tree Farmers of the Year award for the Northeast Region in 2016.  

In her free time, Laura enjoys spending time with family, hiking, snowshoeing, backpacking, and wilderness canoe camping.
